A New Chapter Written in the Eye of the Storm

This inaugural blog post honors my network of outstanding partners who tirelessly work to repair our world through philanthropy. It also heralds the end, and in many ways, a new beginning for my beloved business, Social Profit Ventures, which I have aptly renamed, ABW Partners.

Welcome to the world ABW Partners! In ethos and practice, you have always been the force behind my call to cultivate, inspire and elevate leaders and their teams so they may achieve the greatest possible societal impact.

There’s no better time for a reinvigoration especially as we enter into the sixth month of our topsy turvy world “disorder”. This chapter has intensified the challenge of creating meaningful social impact but also offers fertile ground for strengthening how we pursue our work.  At least that was the gist of the first virtual fundraising training I designed and led in March 2020.

I even channeled the sun's vibrancy by wearing a bright yellow sweater and positioning a vibrant painting behind my desk, my subliminal call to leaders, and their high-impact teams. The purpose? To cultivate positivity and remain steadfast in robust donor relationship development practices so they and their colleagues may be strong for those in the greatest need.

Words cannot adequately capture the Herculean accomplishments of the philanthropic sector in this new chapter.   Recognizing that societal needs far outstrip these successes, it is essential to reinvigorate our philanthropic practices.

Perhaps, and even more vital, is the call to augment our externally-facing philanthropic practices with an inward-facing philanthropic ethos. To approach our life-sustaining work with even more vim and vigor, we must fortify our organizational cultures and how we build and support one another.
